SIM Technology Group Limited, the leading independent mobile headset designer in China (SEHK: 2000), today announces further cooperation with Ningbo Bird, the largest PRC mobile headset provider, in the development and manufacturing of mobile handsets.
In the Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding signed by both Parties dated July 28th, 2005, in addition to the 260,000 units of MP3 mobile handsets to be delivered to Ninbgo Bird, SIM Technology will deliver 240,000 more units of MP3 mobile handsets before the end of September 2005 and approximately 500,000 units of MPEG4 multi-media mobile handsets starting from the 3rd quarter of 2005. It is expected that SIM Technology Group would have delivered approximately 1 million mobile handsets to Ningbo Bird by the Chinese New Year of 2006.
On June 7th, 2005, Ningbo Bird initiated a summer product release campaign with 20 new products offerings. The event, entitled “New Challenges, New Breakthrough”, was critically acclaimed across the industry and consumer spectrum. The three feature phone models designed by SIM Technology for Ningbo Bird and integrated with MP3 music players and 300,000-pixils cameras were particularly applauded.
The Ningbo Bird’s brand name and channel expertise combined with SIM Technology Group’s exceptional development and innovation competence jointly drove an explosion in market acceptance for these three new models. Encouraged by this initial success and for full exploitation of external resources, Mr. Xu Li Hua, President of Ningbo Bird has explicitly expressed its intention to appoint SIM Technology Group as its designer for mid-high end multi-media mobile headsets with built-in MPEG4 functions starting from the third quarter of 2005.
